The Sandakphu Trek (11,941 ft) is one of India’s most scenic ridge walks — offering an uninterrupted 180° panorama of the world’s tallest peaks, including Mt. Everest, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, and Makalu.
Over seven days, you’ll journey through vibrant rhododendron forests, quaint Nepali villages, and misty valleys — all while witnessing the breathtaking Sleeping Buddha formation of the Kanchenjunga range.

Day 1 — Arrival at NJP / Bagdogra → Manebhanjan (Drive)
Altitude: 6,700 ft | Drive: 4–5 hrs
Arrive at NJP or Bagdogra airport and meet your trek leader. Enjoy a scenic drive through the rolling hills of Darjeeling to Manebhanjan, the gateway to Singalila National Park. Evening briefing and overnight stay in a cozy homestay.
Day 2 — Manebhanjan → Tumling
Altitude: 9,600 ft | Trek: ~11 km | Time: 6–7 hrs
The trail climbs gradually through lush oak and rhododendron forests, passing by Chitrey and Meghma villages. Reach Tumling, a picturesque settlement offering your first clear view of the Kanchenjunga range. Overnight in a local lodge.
Day 3 — Tumling → Kalapokhri
Altitude: 10,400 ft | Trek: ~13 km | Time: 6–7 hrs
Walk along the Indo–Nepal border trail with alternating views of both countries. Stop at Jaubari and Gairibas, then continue to Kalapokhri, named after the serene black lake that marks the campsite. Dinner and rest in a warm tea house.
Day 4 — Kalapokhri → Sandakphu Summit
Altitude: 11,941 ft | Trek: ~6 km | Time: 3–4 hrs
A steady uphill trail leads you to the highest point in West Bengal — Sandakphu. Watch the sun illuminate Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Kanchenjunga in golden light — one of the most surreal mountain views in the Himalayas. Overnight at a mountain lodge.
Day 5 — Sandakphu → Srikhola via Gurdum
Altitude: 6,900 ft | Trek: ~16 km | Time: 6–7 hrs
Descend through dense rhododendron forests and quaint villages to Gurdum and finally Srikhola, a riverside hamlet with hanging bridges and traditional homes. Evening at leisure beside the river. Overnight stay at a homestay.
Day 6 — Srikhola → NJP / Bagdogra (Drive)
Drive: 6–7 hrs
Post breakfast, drive back through the scenic hills of Darjeeling to NJP or Bagdogra. Trip concludes with fond memories of the Himalayas.
Accommodation from Day 1–6 in homestays and tea houses (triple/quad sharing).
18 meals from dinner on Day 1 to breakfast on Day 6 (veg menu, limited variety in remote areas).
Local transport: NJP/Bagdogra → Manebhanjan → NJP/Bagdogra.
Trek permits for Singalila National Park.
